The Executive Secretary of Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition (GACC) Mrs Beauty Emefa Narteh, is urging the government to use legal and constitutional frameworks to fight corruption in Ghana.
According to her, Ghana needs a holistic approach to fight corruption.
Speaking On press, Mrs Narteh, believed that the setting up of the anti-corruption team or the Operations Recover All Loot (ORAL) adds to the mistrust Ghanaians have in the institutions fighting corruption in Ghana.
” What’s their sense of reference? Why not allow state institutions fighting corruption to be in charge? We have these questions for the team.”
She said most Ghanaians are losing trust in the systems and institutions that are supposed to deal with corruption to the extent that even when they witness corrupt practices they don’t feel confident to report same
Because of corruption, people who do not have the requisite qualification are appointed to positions.”
She suggested that, the government must resource anti-corruption agencies to be able to prosecute corrupt cases. “We need to do a lot more to mitigate corruption,” she added.
