A member of the legal team of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Edudzi Tamakloe, has disclosed that the party has secured an interlocutory injunction against the re-collation process of the election results for the Nsawam-Adoagyiri constituency.
The re-collation process, which began on Thursday, December 12, at the Tesano Police Depot, was postponed to continue on Friday, December 13, 2024. This process became necessary due to discrepancies in the figures on the pink sheet, which did not tally.
However, amidst the process, the returning officer for the Electoral Commission in the constituency announced that an interlocutory injunction had been obtained by the EC, halting the process.
Addressing the media shortly after the process was halted, Edudzi Tamakloe noted that the court has set December 20, 2024, to hear the interlocutory injunction. “We have served the Electoral Commission with an application of interlocutory injunction to prevent the Electoral Commission from doing what they are doing. That process has been served on the EC,” he said.
Meanwhile, the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua, expressed displeasure with the latest update on the matter. “If there’s an injunction as a lawyer, know the processes. Where is the bailiff? At the end of the day, is he an officer of the law? So, if there is indeed an injunction, the officers here will certainly be called and told. You cannot take a concocted injunction from the NDC,” Justin Frimpong Kodua noted.
