Former President John Dramani Mahama has been declared the winner of the December 7, 2024, presidential election. The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa, officially announced that Mahama, the candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is the president-elect.
The polls, held nationwide on Saturday, December 7, resulted in a landslide victory for Mahama.
According to Jean Mensa, who served as the returning officer, Mahama secured 6,328,397 votes, representing 56.55%, while Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the vice president and presidential candidate of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), garnered 4,657,304 votes, representing 41.61%.

The total valid votes, according to the EC, were 11,191,422, with 239,109 ballots rejected. The total votes cast stood at 11,430,531, while the voter register listed 18,774,159 registered voters.
The voter turnout for the 2024 election was recorded at 60.9%, based on results from the 267 constituencies.
