Hiplife artiste, Skrewfaze known in real life as Jehoshaphat Eshun has revealed how iconic Ivorian musician, Freddy Meiway inspired his francophone style of music.
He said as a result of developing his own unique style of music in the Ghanaian scene, he was inspired by how people were dancing to ‘Zoblazo’ even though they didn’t understand the lyrics.
He said”I felt like let me also switch my style and find my own identity because people were always mistaking me for Samini which is not bad because he’s a big artiste and a legend.
“I had to find my identity so big shout to Freddy Meiway because at Chorkor and the typical Ga areas we used to hear his songs and people really danced to it.
“But one thing that I found amusing was that people were dancing to the Freddy Meiway Zoblazo song but they never understood the language,” he said in an interview with Amansan Krakye on Property FM.
“I realized they were vibing to the melody, the rhyme and the beats so if Ghanaians can vibe with this beat why can’t I also switch to this francophone style and interlace it with my own language”.
