The Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Shani Alhassan Siabu has announced that the region has achieved a 98% transition rate from Junior High School (JHS) to Senior High School (SHS) for the 2023/2024 academic year due to the Free senior high school policy.
He made the remarks at the Northern Regional Town Hall Meeting and Exhibition at the GNAT Hall in Tamale On Tuesday October 8.
The event featured exhibitions showcasing Government initiatives and projects in various sectors of the economy, including infrastructure, roads, health care, and education.
Dr Ampaabeng, while touching on the dry spell in the region said that the government intends to spend 8.2 billion Ghana Cedis to mitigate the impact.
Out of the total amount, he said, over 3 billion has been raised.
The Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture, Muhammed Hardi Tufeiru mentioned that his outfit will begin the distribution of food grants to over 800,000 farmers in the eight most affected regions from October 10.
In her opening remarks, the Minister for Information, Fatimatu Abubakar explained that the meetings served as a platform to bridge the gap between the Government and the public, fostering trust and ensuring transparency.
