Residents of Nyantramor in Kpone Bawaleshie, located in the Kpone Katamanso Municipality, are living in fear due to a surge in armed robberies over the past few months.
The community members report that criminals have been terrorizing and vandalizing their properties, attributing these incidents to the lack of a police post and the poor condition of their roads.
A visit to the town on Sunday afternoon revealed many residents reacting to the threats they face. One woman alleged that her husband was attacked and killed by unknown masked men. A year on, no arrests have been made, leaving many residents traumatized.
Other residents also shared their predicaments, recounting experiences of armed robberies and property vandalism.
In addition to the security concerns, the various communities in the Kpone Bawaleshie area are also dealing with poor road networks. Due to the deplorable condition of the roads, vehicles have been parked, leaving residents with no option but to walk long distances. For motor riders, popularly known as okada riders, it is a brisk business.
