In a remarkable display of literary talent, Master Collins Opoku, a Class 1 pupil from Kyerekrom D/A Primary School, claimed the top prize at the inaugural Kan Dapaah Reading Challenge. Held at The First Baptist Church, Opoku captivated the audience with his exceptional fluency in both Twi and English, outshining his peers.
The event, organized by the Afigya Kwabre North Education Directorate, aims to promote a culture of reading among students in the district. The competition unfolded in two phases, starting with random reading assessments in schools and culminating in public reading sessions featuring circuit champions.

Opoku’s outstanding performance was complemented by other winners in various class categories, including Melfa Owusuwaa (Class 2), Leonard Boahen (Class 3), Austin Nana Wiredu (Class 4), Yindoo Anastasia (Class 5), and Konadu Manu Luis (Class 6).
Winners and runners-up received books, certificates, and clothes as prizes. The event was graced by notable dignitaries such as National Security Minister Hon. Kan Dapaah, Chief Karikari Achamfour, and District Director of Education Madam Ellen Gyekyewa Eshun.
The Kan Dapaah Reading Challenge, sponsored by Hon. Kan Dapaah and supported by the Otumfuo Foundation, Rainbow Publications, and Otuasekan Rural Bank, is part of a five-year project aimed at assessing and improving reading skills in the district.
