Nana Kofi Amofa, a 30-year-old man, affectionately referred to as ‘Kofi Yesu’ has been arrested by the Central East Regional Police Intelligence Unit (PIU) while attempting to sell his Senior brother’s 6-year-old daughter for GHC150,000 to acquire visa to Canada.
The suspect through investigation was apprehended on Tuesday, around 10:00pm at Gomoa Buduburam near Obolo Estate.
Police says, they had information that, the suspect has expressed desire to sell the 6-year-old girl (name withheld) to get money to travel to Canada, so police despatched men leading to his arrest.
According to sources, officers from the Police Intelligence Unit (PIU), contracted a man as a buyer, who expressed interest of buying the victim, where the suspect during their conversation, demanded an amount of GH¢150,000 (1.5 billion old cedis) to be paid for the transaction of the girl.
After the arrest, the suspect described the victim to be the daughter of his senior brother, Kwadwo Brako who is currently in his Home Town at Nyamebekyere, a village near Akyem Ayirebi in the Ofoase Ayirebi Constituency in the Eastern Region.
