The Finance Minister Dr Mohammed Amin Adam has said that the Government continues to honour the payment of Trainee Allowances.
He said a total amount of GH¢219 million was paid as allowance to 104,000 nursing trainees from January to June 2024.
“Similarly, a total amount of GH¢216 million has been released as allowance to 67,000 teacher trainees for the 2023/2024 academic year,” he said in the mid-year budget presentation on Tuesday, July 23.
On May 14 2024, Vice President Dr. Mahanudu Bawumia announced that outstanding nursing trainee allowances for 2024 was going to be released for onward payments to nursing and teacher trainees across the country.
The teacher and nursing trainee allowances, which the Akufo-Addo government restored following its cancellation by the erstwhile Mahama government, had stalled for a few months.
However, at a mammoth engagement with the youth in Nalerigu, in the North East Region, with a number of nursing and teacher trainees in attendance, Dr. Bawumia announced the good news to a rapturous cheers.
“On the nursing training allowance, we have been able to agree on what to do come this Thursday,” Dr. Bawumia said.
“So I believe that, inshaa Allah, by next week, all of you should be receiving the nursing trainee allowances, and they will be in your accounts.”
