Ghanaian defender Daniel Amartey has rejected an offer to transfer to Saudi Arabia this week, as reported by Turkish media outlet, Sabah Spor.
Beşiktaş, Amartey’s current club, had accepted a loan proposal for the former Copenhagen man, with the Saudi club expressing willingness to cover his €1.8 million salary.
However, Amartey has declined the deal and will continue his career in Turkey.
The 29-year-old has faced challenges in securing regular playing time due to injuries and a struggle to reach peak performance levels after recovery during the previous season.
In the 2023/24 Turkish Super League, Amartey participated in only 18 games, with a mere 12 of them as a starter, out of a potential 38 games.
Having joined Besiktas two summers ago following the expiration of his contract with Leicester City, Amartey’s decision to remain in Turkey means he is determined to overcome his previous setbacks and making a substantial impact in the upcoming season.
