Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the newly appointed Board Chair of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), has called on the management to embrace innovation and efficiency to transform the company and create a brighter future for the nation.
Speaking at his swearing-in ceremony on Tuesday, July 17, Afenyo-Markin emphasized the importance of deploying smart grid technologies in major cities like Accra, Kumasi, and Takoradi. “This technology has the power to reduce outage response times, boost businesses, and enhance the quality of life for our citizens,” he stated.
Highlighting customer service as a priority, Afenyo-Markin urged the development of a more interactive and user-friendly digital platform to reduce complaint resolution times and improve overall customer satisfaction. “Every Ghanaian deserves access to reliable and efficient electricity. This is not just a matter of convenience; it’s a matter of justice,” he asserted.
Addressing infrastructure, Afenyo-Markin underscored the need to assess current distribution networks and reduce technical losses to save resources and improve power delivery reliability. “This is not just a technical challenge; it’s a moral imperative. We owe it to ourselves, our children, and our future to be responsible stewards of our resources,” he concluded.
Afenyo-Markin’s vision for ECG marks a new era of possibility, focusing on innovation, customer service, and infrastructure improvements to drive the company’s success and benefit the nation.
