The Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs has adjourned the arbitration of the Offinso Chieftaincy Saga, rescheduling the case to August 14, 2024.
The judicial committee is set to continue hearing the dispute between the Ashirem Royal Family and Nana Amoako (A.K.A. Dwamena Akenten II). The case follows the installation of Nana Dwamena Akenten II as the Paramount Chief of Offinso, which has led to unrest in parts of the Offinso township, with some royal family members contesting his legitimacy.
Lawyer Benjamin Osei Boateng, representing the Ashirem Royal Family, provided an explanation for the adjournment of the case to August 14, 2024.
Meanwhile, Okyeame Kwaku Wiafe of the Offinso Traditional Council assured that despite the ongoing disturbances, developmental projects in Offinso and its environs will proceed without interruption.
Additionally, Apostle Anthony Opoku Addai, Chairman of the Local Churches Council in Offinso, emphasized that the churches are advocating for fairness in the case to restore peace and stability in the community.
