A senior lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Dr. Kwasi Amakye-Boateng, has said the Energy Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, will sweep floating voters, if the NPP will, and build the party’s base than Dr. Bawumia himself.
According to the Political Science lecturer, the Vice President failed to live up to his words, considering the promises he made amid his numerous lectures prior to the 2016 elections. The outcome of the many lectures he says, has been a plummeting economy where everyone is complaining.
Dr. Amakye-Boateng explains that Bawumia’s inability to accept blame for the failures of the current administration and quickness to take credit for some achievements is a red flag for floating voters going into the polls.
Speaking on , July 05, 2024, the political analyst indicated that Dr. Opoku Prempeh is the one that will do the magic for the NPP, if any, because, for Dr. Bawumia, “he talks too much.”
Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo has expressed optimism over the Bawumia-Opoku Prempeh ticket, saying the duo shall retain power for the NPP.
Following the confirmation of the Energy Minister as the running mate for the party’s flag bearer at a National Executive Council meeting Thursday, July 04, 2024, the President expressed his unwavering confidence in the pair.
During an encounter with journalists after the confirmation at the party’s headquarters, President Akufo-Addo, with enthusiasm, said it was an “excellent pairing”.
He conveyed his conviction that they will lead the NPP to a resounding victory in the 2024 general elections.
Highlighting their combined strengths and leadership qualities, Mr. Akufo-Addo stated that the pair will have a resounding victory for the NPP come December.
“National Council has endorsed the nomination of Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh to be the running mate of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
“The NPP has an excellent ticket, and we’re going to win with this ticket on 7th December 2024, that’s the news. The feeling is good, they make a very good pair, and they are going to win,” he stated.
