A Security Expert Mr Richard Kumadoe has noted that inconclusive investigations into crimes always create fertile grounds for criminals to get away with their actions.
He says it gives the criminals power over the police because they are empowered due to the lack of investigations into their operations.
He made these comments when he was contributing to a discussion on the topic “Child security in Ghana, the role of security agencies and communities” on TV3 on Wednesday, July 4.
Mr Kumadoe said “Inconclusive investigations will always make sure that the criminals dominate the police.”
He further urged the government to resource the Police and other invewts8gatve bodies to enable them to fully carry out their task.
The government must come to their aid and resources the Police, he said.
For her part, a Former Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo asked the Police to create a special desk to specifically handle the issue of missing children.
She also pleaded with the media to, as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR), provide their platforms to educate people on child security.
“Create a special desk to handle to specifically address the issue of missing children,” she told the Police.
To the media, she said “the media should also provide the platform to give information about the people who are missing. Through their corporate social responsibilities, the media can place adverts on missing children.
“So for now, the Police should create a desk to start getting information out, where the hotspots are, and under what circumstances do children go missing, and then the media should also provide the platforms to help. These two will help, then then we can later have a long-term strategic plan.”
