Abuakwa, Kumasi – The introduction of the National Identification Card, known as the Ghana Card, by the Nana Addo/Bawumia government has significantly reduced theft in the banking sector, according to Fosuah Antwi Kwarteng, the General Manageress of the Liberty Assemblies of God Co-operative Savings and Social Society Limited (AGASSCO).
Speaking at a general meeting of AGASSCO in Abuakwa, a suburb of Kumasi, Mrs. Kwarteng praised the government for implementing the Ghana Card, which aims to unite the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and facilitate easier transactions and movements.
“The Ghana Card has brought considerable relief to several sectors, including SSNIT and banking,” Mrs. Kwarteng stated. She highlighted that the card has played a crucial role in minimizing theft within the banking sector, as it contains detailed information about its holder, making it difficult for imposters to steal money from bank accounts.
“Previously, imposters could easily loot people’s money at banks. However, since the introduction of the Ghana Card, such incidents have become a thing of the past,” she explained.
Mrs. Kwarteng also addressed the issue of panic withdrawals during election years, which often stem from fear. She urged Ghanaians to refrain from such actions, assuring them that Ghana will continue to enjoy peace and harmony.
The Ghana Card, since its inception, has been applauded for its role in enhancing security and streamlining operations in various sectors, reflecting positively on the current administration’s efforts to improve national identification and economic stability.
