Reggae Dancehall artiste, Stonebwoy has applauded himself for grabbing the prestigious Artiste of the Year award at the recent 25th TGMA.
The two-time winner of the award in an interview with Berla Mundi on Friday, June 7 recounted winning the award in 2015 and claimed to have also won it in 2019 although it was not announced.
After his recent win this year, the time difference in between the years he has won the award, if his assertion is anything to go by is a five-year span.
Per this notion, the ‘Overlord’ hitmaker claimed that he “feels like every five years, I come back to win Artiste of the Year”.
“From 2015 when I won, I came back for it in 2019 and I won it in 2024 who knows [maybe the next five years, I will win],” he added.
Stonebwoy has reiterated that he believes the 2019 Artiste of the Year award belonged to him if the scuffle that occurred that night had not taken place.
“I trusted that should everything had gone on perfectly that night Stonebwoy would have been the Artiste of the Year, that’s why I am pleading so that if they do come out eventually in all humility this is nothing by force,” he stated.
The eight-time winner of the Reggae Dancehall artiste had already pleaded with Charterhouse to announce him as winner as he believes he won the Artiste of the Year award if his scuffle with Shatta Wale had not taken place.
The brawl between Stonebwoy’s team and Shatta Wale’s team occurred on the night of the awards on stage in 2019 after Stonebwoy had been adjudged the Reggae Dancehall Artiste of the Year.
