Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has explained how the E-Gates initiative will work at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) when it is implemented.
He said that the government will be implementing the E-Gates initiative at the KIA by the end of this year.
With this initiative, passengers will not need to go to the immigration officers before entering.
They will only have to put in their Ghana Card for the entrance to open to allow them to pass through, he said.
The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) said this during a meeting with the clergy in Cape Coast, as part of his tour of the Central Region on Monday.
“In fact, before the end of this year if you arrive in Ghana at Kotoka Airport you don’t need to go to an immigration officer, we are putting together the E-gates, you put in your Ghana card it will open for you, and you pass and enter.
“The E-gates will come into work in Ghana before the end of this year,” he said.
