Deputy Attorney-General Alfred Tuah-Yeboah has said the Attorney-General’s Depratment wants a day-to-day hearing of the trial of the Minority Leader Dr Cassiel Ato Forson in addition to a live broadcast of the case if the application is accepted by the Chief Justice for the case to go live on radio and television.
He says that the day-to-day hearing will ensure this matter is dealt with expeditiously.
“We believe in accountability and we appall misreporting and so if the Chief Justice in her wisdom decides that this matter should be live we have no objection.
“In fact, the AG has indicated at different fora that when it comes to public interest matters or matters where the public has kind of interest, it will be in the interest of justice that such proceedings are broadcast live on television and radio,”
He added “Not only the broadcasting but we are looking at having day-to-day hearing so that we can get to the end of this matter as soon as possible.”
Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has instructed his legal team to petition the Chief Justice to televise the remainder of the proceedings.
This request was detailed in a letter from his lawyers to the Chief Justice on Thursday, May 30.
Dr. Ato Forson explained on social media that this move is prompted by recent allegations of misconduct against Attorney-General Godfred Yeboah Dame.
