Bediatuo Asante, the Executive Secretary to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has denied advising the Canadian Embassy in Ghana to cut down on visa issuance to Ghanaians.
An article published on amnewsworld.com on May 16 by one Ohene Anochie titled “Asante Bediatuo advises Canadian Embassy to reduce Visa issuance rate to Ghanaians,” alleged that Mr Bediatuo made the announcement at a secret meeting with H.E Christopher Thornley, the Canadian Ambassador to Ghana, claiming “Ghana is loosing a lot of young vibrant workforce to other countries.”
The said article was also published on thinknewsonline.com.
“Our country is losing some of its brightest minds and most skilled professionals,” Bediatuo reportedly stated.
“While opportunities abroad can be appealing, it is crucial that we address the underlying issues that drive our citizens to leave,” it added.
However, lawyers for Bediatuo Asante, in a May 21 statement, emphasised that the reports are false and must be disregarded by the general public.
Mr Bediatuo’s lawyers made specific references to amnewsworld.com and thinknewsonline.com that published the allegations and wildly circulated them, urging the public to treat those publications with contempt.
