Guinness World Records (GWR) contender for longest walk-a-thon, Seidu Rafiwu has successfully completed his record attempt for the longest distance covered by walking on foot.

Rafiwu embarked on his attempt from Saturday, April 27 and completed the 383 km walk journey in 96 hours from Techiman to Accra.

He ended his record attempt on Tuesday April 30 at the Independence square in Osu, Accra.

NEW GUINNESS WORLD RECORD(ATTEMPT): After 96 hours walking on foot from Bono Region through Ashanti Region and Eastern Region, Seidu Rafiwu has successfully ended his journey at the Independence Square, Accra covering over 380km in 96 hours.

Earlier, there were reports that Rafiwu collapsed while attempting the record but he later debunked the rumours.

The reports were that Rafiwu had succumbed to exhaustion and was in a serious condition after purportedly collapsing upon reaching the Konongo township.
Rafiwu added that the video inundated on social media was of a moment during his scheduled recovery session conducted by the medical team.

During a break in his journey, the team actively engages in massaging his thighs and legs to alleviate any strain or discomfort.
The current walking marathon record was set by America’s Jesse Casteneda in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA, on September 1976 after walking for 228.930 kilometres.
