Paris Saint-Germain’s manager Luis Enrique has emphasised the importance of his team getting accustomed to playing without Kylian Mbappe.
The striker was substituted in the draw against Rennes as he failed to extend his scoring streak. Mbappe, who has agreed to join Real Madrid in the summer, was taken off in the 65th minute after being unable to add to his 21 goals this season.
Goncalo Ramos rescued a point for the team with a stoppage-time penalty in the draw against Rennes, maintaining PSG’s dominance in the league.
“We have to get used to not playing with Kylian, sooner or later it’s going to happen,” Enrique stated, acknowledging the imminent departure of the France international. He emphasised that decisions about Mbappe’s playing time will be made based on what he considers appropriate for the team’s competitiveness.
Enrique’s focus is on building maximum competitiveness for the upcoming seasons, urging every starting player in the PSG team to view it as a great opportunity. The manager is looking for commitment and determination from the squad as they aim for success in the current season and beyond.
Despite Mbappe’s absence, PSG remains in a strong position in Ligue 1, being unbeaten in their past 18 league matches and holding an 11-point lead at the top with 54 points from 23 games.
Enrique’s comments reflect the managerial approach to adapting to changes within the squad, with an emphasis on building a competitive team for the challenges ahead.
The departure of Mbappe, a key player, requires strategic adjustments and a collective effort from the team to maintain their success in domestic and international competitions.
