According to Marca, Kylian Mbappé (25) will sign a contract in the summer that will see him at Real Madrid for the next five years.
It’s expected that Mbappé will be provided with a wage reflective of his status as one of the best players in the world, and will become Madrid’s highest earner, surpassing even Luka Modrić (38), Toni Kroos (34), and David Alaba (31).
The total wage is thought to net the forward between 15 to 20 million euros annually which can be supplemented with additional bonuses.
A considerable pay cut compared to what he would have earned if he had joined the club in 2022 when he would have earned 26 million euros per year, and even more so than if he decided to stay at Paris Saint-Germain where his wage was thought to be 32 million euros.
If Mbappé does sign this contract it would perhaps speak to the reason for why he has decided to leave PSG. It has long been thought that he believes his best chance at winning the Champions League and the Ballon d’Or would be at a club whose raison d’etre has been an enduring pursuit of success.
