The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Kwaku Ampratwum Sarpong has retained his position as the New Patriotic Party’s candidate for the Mampong Constituency in December parliamentary election.
He won by 555 votes against his contender, Dennis Kwakwa who secured 167 votes.
“The delegates believe I am in the position to deliver more,” Dr Apratwum told journalists after being declared winner.
A total of 727 delegates voted with 4 rejected on Saturday.
His landslide victory makes him a third consecutive candidate for the ruling party in one of it stronghold.
On three occasions, elections have been injuncted.
In 2022, the Mampong Constituency could not participate in the constituency level election due to litigation over the constituency’s album.
