The death of a student at Aburi Girls’ Senior High School has sparked an official investigation, as confirmed by the Eastern Regional Minister, Seth Kwame Acheampong.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has initiated inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident, aligning with the Ghana Education Service’s response protocol.
The student reportedly passed away on Sunday amid allegations of negligence and delay on the part of school supervisors, prompting demands from the victim’s parents for an independent probe.9
Both the Sector Minister and the Regional Education Director have refrained from commenting until the investigation concludes. In a related development, the Parent Teacher Association Secretariat has rescheduled a planned meeting in light of recent events.
The family of the deceased student, Stacy Okyere, who was a first-year student at Aburi Girls SHS, has accused the school of negligence, a claim refuted by a senior school official.
Mr. Okyere insists his daughter had no underlying health conditions and calls for a comprehensive explanation from the school regarding the circumstances leading to her untimely demise.
