In a thrilling competition held at Anglican Senior High School in Kumasi, St. Hubert Seminary Senior High School, representing the Ashanti Region, emerged victorious in the Southern Zone 67th Independence debate Competition. The event, a highlight of Independence Day celebrations, witnessed St. Hubert Seminary beating seven other schools.
Focusing on the motion “Digital Technology Has Made Students’ Academic Lives Better,” the competition unfolded through four engaging contests. The third contest, featuring defending champions Mfantsiman Girls Senior School from the Central Region and St. Hubert Seminary, stood out for its impressive and thrilling presentations.
Both schools demonstrated eloquence and in-depth research, supporting their arguments with empirical evidence.
Addressing the audience, Dr. Amankrah Appiah, the Regional Director of Education, called on Literature in English teachers to collaborate in reviving the subject through Continuous Professional Development (CPD). He also urged teachers to instill rich cultural values in students, emphasizing the role of moral education in shaping future leaders.
“The students here today are leaders in twenty years to come. We have to teach them moral values to make them complete.” Dr. Amankrah highlighted.
St. Hubert’s victory in this competition sets the stage for a face-off with the champion of the Northern Zone in the grand finale on 6th March, 2024 in Koforidua in the Eastern Region.
