Former MP for New Juaben North and Chairman of the Council of Elders for the NPP, Mr. Hackman Owusu Agyemang, has expressed confidence that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is poised to break the eight-year cycle in the 2024 elections. Acknowledging past mistakes, Owusu Agyemang emphasized the party’s commitment to avoiding a repeat of the errors made in 2008.
Speaking to the media after casting his ballot in the ongoing NPP Primaries in the New Juaben North constituency, Owusu Agyemang highlighted the significance of unity within the party. He recalled the division within the party in 2007-2008, which he believes contributed to their defeat in breaking the eight-year cycle.
However, Owusu Agyemang assured that the NPP has learned from past experiences, and steps are being taken to ensure a united front in the upcoming elections.
He stated, “Once bitten twice shy, we have to learn our lesson. If we don’t learn any lesson as a political party, then perhaps we must not even exist. We are going to make sure breaking the eight, as they say, happens.”
This declaration underscores the party’s determination to rectify past shortcomings and position itself for success in the 2024 elections, as they seek to break the historical eight-year political cycle in Ghana.
