In a resounding display of loyalty, delegates from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Dome-Kwabenya constituency express their enduring affection for the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), Lawyer Sarah Adwoa Safo, asserting their intent to vote overwhelmingly to retain her position. The delegates, gathered on Saturday, January 27, 2024, for the NPP parliamentary primary, emphasized that their support for Adwoa Safo sends a potent signal to the party hierarchy about her indispensable role in securing the constituency for the NPP.
Motivated by Adwoa Safo’s unwavering competency, despite perceived mistakes last year during critical parliamentary sessions, the delegates view the upcoming primary as a pivotal moment for the legacy and leadership prowess of the incumbent MP. This, they argue, distinguishes Adwoa Safo from her competitors, Mike Oquaye Jnr and Sheela Oppong Sakyi.
In an exclusive interview with The Chronicle, delegates highlighted Adwoa Safo’s role as a catalyst for tremendous growth in the constituency, specifically citing improvements in road infrastructure, health, water and sanitation, education, energy, and security. They contended that Dome-Kwabenya has consistently made the right choice in selecting Adwoa Safo to represent them.
Mama Gee, a delegate at Agbogba-Konongo Polling Station, affirmed, “The legacy of Lawyer Sarah Adwoa Safo is there for all to see. She listens to our concerns and acts upon them. That is why we are not tired of re-electing her.”
Shadrach Gyimah, a delegate at the Old Ashongman Presbyterian School, echoed this sentiment, stating, “If Adwoa Safo is to contest the seat 10 times, I will vote for her and urge others to also vote for her.”
Delegates pointed out the lack of legacy projects from Adwoa Safo’s competitors, emphasizing the importance of a track record in such contests. They asserted that Adwoa Safo’s economic empowerment initiatives and proven track record make her the dependable candidate the NPP can rely on to secure victory.
Despite controversies surrounding the voter’s album, with allegations of delegate manipulation, the delegates remain steadfast in their support for Adwoa Safo. They believe her appeal transcends party lines and positions her as the candidate best suited to retain the seat for the NPP in Dome-Kwabenya.
