The High Court in Accra has directed the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) led by Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyabeng to return the seized funds of former Sanitation Minister Cecilia Abena Dapaah within 72 hours. The court also mandated the unfreezing of Dapaah’s bank accounts.

The directive followed the OSP’s withdrawal of its originating motion seeking Confirmation Orders for the seizure and freeze of Cecilia Abena Dapaah’s assets on Thursday, January 25.

Subsequently, the OSP dropped the criminal charge against the former Sanitation Minister during a private meeting between the judge, Cecilia Dapaah, and their respective legal teams.

In a notable turn of events during the court session, Justice Nana Brew emphasized the urgency of the case, prompting an open-court hearing. However, after brief discussions at the bench, it was revealed that the OSP had withdrawn the motion and dismissed the charge sheet against Cecilia Dapaah.

EIB Network’s Legal Affairs Correspondent, Murtala Inusah, reported the presence of Cecilia Dapaah, her husband, and the Special Prosecutor in court during this development.
