After Ghana’s elimination from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Inaki Williams has made his way back to Spain to join Athletic Bilbao for their upcoming Cope del Rey match against Barcelona at the San Mames tonight.

The 29-year-old striker, who represented Ghana in the AFCON, faced disappointment as the team finished third in Group B, missing out on the knockout round.

Ghana’s hopes were dashed after Cameroon secured a late win over Gambia on Tuesday evening, officially eliminating them from the tournament.

Williams, making his AFCON debut, played in all three group stage games but failed to find the back of the net.

Despite the setback, Williams expressed readiness for the Cope del Rey clash. The striker, who has played 18 times for Athletic Bilbao in the ongoing 2023/24 season, has scored 8 goals so far, and his return to the club is anticipated for the crucial match against Barcelona.”
