In a recent operation conducted by the Afigya Kwabre North District Police Command, 32-year-old Alex Mensah was arrested for drug possession at the Kwamang Police Checkpoint on the Boamang to Kumasi road in the Afigya Kwabre North District in Ashanti Region.
District Police Commander DSP E. A Odame reported that during routine vehicle searches, evidence emerged pointing to Mensah’s engagement in illegal drug-related activities, which have been identified as a source of disturbance to the peace in the district.
On January 14th, around 12:30 hours, Mensah was found in possession of three sachets of Tramadol and two quantities of folded Indian hemp.
Investigations suggest Mensah intended to distribute the drugs in Kyekyewere, a town within the district. He is scheduled to appear before the Offinso Circuit Court Tuesday, January 16th, 2024.
DSP Odame emphasized the prevalence of such incidents and urged the youth to steer clear of illicit substances.
He encouraged the public to promptly report any suspicious activities related to drug peddling to the police.
