The third edition of the Fish FM Marathon unfolded in the scenic Afigya Kwabre North District. Drawing male and female athletes from diverse locations, the competition promised not just spirited races but a chance to vie for an impressive array of prizes totaling over 60,000gh.
A total of 301 athletes, comprising 206 males and 95 females, eagerly registered to partake in the intense competition. The male contestants embarked on a challenging 23-kilometer race from Buoho to Boamang, while their female counterparts covered 14 kilometers, commencing from Aduman junction and culminating in Boamang.
The culmination of the event saw Ishmael Arthur emerge triumphant as the overall winner in the male category. His stellar performance earned him a medal, a trophy, and an impressive cash prize of 16,000gh. Following closely were Seidu Salifu, the first runner-up, securing 10,000ghc along with a medal and plaque, and David Nakousi, the second runner-up, taking home medals, a plaque, and 8,000ghc.
In the female category, Esther Yakubu claimed victory, earning a medal, a plaque, and an impressive cash prize of 11,000ghc. Portia Anaba, the first runner-up, received 8,000ghc, a medal, and a plaque, while Abigail Abugri, the second runner-up, took home a medal, a plaque, and a cash prize of 6,000ghc.
Hon. Collins Adomako-Mensah, a dedicated Member of Parliament for the Constituency and a prominent event sponsor, honored the top three male and female participants from Afigya Kwabre North with additional cash prizes:
- 1st Male: Ghc 10,000
- 2nd Male: Ghc 8,000
- 3rd Male: Ghc 6,000
- 1st Female: Ghc 8,000
- 2nd Female: Ghc 7,000
- 3rd Female: Ghc 5,000
Notable participants included 9-year-old Sulemana Salamatu from Nyinnasu, the youngest contender, and 63-year-old Mr. Oduro Dwamena from Offinso, the oldest athlete in the competition.
Distinguished figures, such as Hon. Dr. Albert Kan-Dapaah, the national security minister, Hon. Kwasi Karikari Achamfuor, the District Chief Executive, Hon. Collins Adomako-Mensah, Member of Parliament, and various Nananom, opinion leaders, and ministers of God, graced the occasion with their presence.
The Fish FM Marathon, an annual initiative by the Afigya-based radio station, Fish FM 88.5, continues to capture the spirit of competition and community.

As of 2023, this marathon has firmly established itself as a beloved and eagerly anticipated tradition, marking its third successful year in a row since its inception in December 2021.
