President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will be visiting districts severely impacted by the floods resulting from the Akosombo Dam spillage today, Monday, October 16, 2023.

He will be accompanied on this tour by members of the Inter-Ministerial Committee, which has been established to coordinate the government’s response to the flooding and provide assistance to those affected. The President on Friday 13th October, 2023 returned from his 4-day official visit to the United States.

The spillage of the Akosombo Dam has submerged hundreds of houses and cut off roads in parts of the Volta and Eastern regions.

According to the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), as of Friday, October 13, 2023, over 1,000 people have been displaced by the floods.

Furthermore, the dam’s spillage has caused substantial damage to infrastructure in the affected areas. NADMO is actively working to offer relief to those affected by the floods.
